I am a Research Group Leader for Marine Safety and Security at the Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures at the German Aerospace Center in the Department Resilience of Maritime Systems.
Previously I was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Ocean Infrastructure Research Group at the Department of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen.
I have also been a Visiting Assistant Professor at Brown University's Political Science Department and a fellow at the Climate Solution Lab at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs.
I study global ocean politics and maritime security, including private maritime security, security technologies, climate change, sanctions evasion, and the environmental threats of substandard "shadow tankers". My work has been published or is forthcoming in International Studies Quarterly, Security Studies and other journals.
I have a PhD in Political Science from Brown University (2021).
